Rental cars and the environment
With the environment as a hot topic in the world and particularly in the area of transport, there are companies that adopt new environmentally friendly technology. Hybrid cars and still more fuel for diesel cars are increasingly effective available to motorists in general. I used to work for a company business trip, and most large companies have requested the inclusion of hybrid cars in their contracts. This was more to do with increased business opportunities by being perceived as green instead of wanting to be green!
The issue arises when people travel and want to maintain their commitment to green causes. The Car rental companies will be those who provide these vehicles … or will they?
I chose (for the traveler in Australia) companies large manufacturers automobiles you can book the "green cars" with. Working for conveying holiday here in Australia, the most common request is for diesel cars. This is justifies the cost issues and concern for the environment casual. (Should not it be the reverse?)

In Australia, the car group I will give you a hybrid Toyota. This car is the favorite for the rental car because is built by Toyota.
In the United Kingdom, it does not seem to have green cars, even though there may be diesel cars on the fleet, Avis does not make them easy find.

In the United Kingdom, Hertz has a range of diesel fuel-efficient fleet, but no hybrids. This seems to be a common factor in the United Kingdom. Being an expat, I know that prices Toyota cars in the United Kingdom are reasonably expensive compared to other European-made vehicles
In the U.S., Hertz has a range of hybrid vehicles, although some cars, I do not know whether or not they were hybrid.
Now, all the credit Hertz as they do promote their green cars as part of their fleet of environmentally friendly vehicles. Opinions do not seem to market their green cars in any way, which is a shame.

Again, contrary to Hertz, they do not appear to promote green their fleets. Looking at their Australian fleet guide, they have regular passenger vehicles such as Small, Medium, Large, Luxury, Minivans, Sport, 4 wheels. Europcar list the green car in the fleet there regularly, however, it does not have its unique identifier (IHAR) in Australia.
In the United Kingdom, Europcar does not seem to offer green. Maybe it's something you can request removal. Personally if I could book a green car on the Internet, I would do with a company that offered this service.
In the U.S., I have chosen as a Europcar LAX limited presence. There were no cars that I could find that appeared green.
In defense of Europcar, other parts Europe, where they are particularly strong, we are able to guarantee a diesel engine for a few euros more per day.
In this brief overview, Hertz seems to be the only rental car company that is actively promoting green cars. Avis and Europcar PDT seems to be little danger in their approach to a Green Fleet. While it may be a matter of logistics and supply problem, it is no reason they could not promote their cars green.
I am sure that in 12 months, the situation will be any such rental company cars will be actively marketing the green cars. Consumers can now offset their CO2 emissions in different sectors of transport and I am sure that the rental industry will follow in a car near future.
The environment is a marketing dream and I think that some car rental companies have missed the boat that day. Hopefully their marketing departments will wake up and smell the air filter ..
